Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, Im Rahmen des Seminars "Finanzmathematik in der Praxis" spricht Herr Univ.Prof. G. Pflug (Institut fuer Statistik) ueber "Stochastische Optimierung im Finanzbereich: Von den Daten ueber die Modelle zu den optimalen Entscheidungen" Zeit: Mittwoch, 13.05.1998, 18 Uhr (puenktlich) Ort: Hoersaal I, Institut fuer Mathematik Strudlhofgasse 4 1090 Wien Der Vortrag berichtet ueber das Projekt AURORA: Stochastische dynamische Optimierung im Finanzbereich auf Parallelrechnern. Die stochastische dynamische Optimierung beruht auf drei Saeulen: Einem stochastischen Modell der oekonomischen Randbedingungen der Entscheidungen, einer Beschreibung der moeglichen Finanzkontrakte (bonds, stocks, futures, options, loans, etc.) und der Formulierung der Zielfunktion. Die oekonomischen Randbedingungen (d.h. alle Risken wie Zinsrisiko, Wechselkursrisiko, Kursrisiko etc.) werden durch einen diskreten stochastischen Prozess beschrieben. Es wird erlaeutert, wie man - ausgehend von den historischen Daten und einem abstrakten Modell (meist ein stochastisches Differentialgleichungsmodell) - einen einfachen Markovprozess, einen Geburts- und Todesprozess anpassen kann, der einen Kompromiss zwischen Beschreibungsgenauigkeit und Einfachheit darstellt. Die Formulierung der Zielfunktion erlaubt die Einbeziehung der Risikoaversion bzw. -freude des Entscheidungstraegers. Einige Risikomasse und ihre Eigenschaften werden vorgestellt. Das gesamte Entscheidungsproblem ist nun als konvexes Optimierungsproblem mit Millionen von Variablen und Hunderttausenden Gleichungen beschrieben. Zur Loesung dieses Problems und damit zur Entscheidungsfindung werden Dekompositionsalgorithmen herangezogen, die auf paralleler Hardware ablaufen koennen.
