The Financial Mathematics group combines and develops ideas coming from stochastic and functional analysis, and the theory of optimal transportation, to obtain new insights on the fundamental questions of portfolio optimization, pricing and hedging of financial instruments, based on the no-arbitrage principle. The group participates actively in the Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral programs in Mathematics, as well as in the teaching education program in Mathematics.

The research group QUARIMAFI (Quantitative Risk Management and Mathematical Finance) works at the interface of mathematical finance, stochastic analysis, statistics and data science. Concrete topics include universal structures in mathematical finance, e.g., universal stochastic processes with applications in volatility modeling and portfolio theory, approximation theory in dynamic situations, data-​driven risk inference and machine learning in finance, especially neural-signature methods.
