WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business)
WU is the public university of economics and business in Austria, and one of the leading universities of its kind in Europe. It represents a broad variety of disciplines related to business and economics. WU strives for excellence in academic research and delivers state-of-the-art teaching rooted in current academic knowledge. It is home to more than 21000 students in various degree programs at the bachelor, master and PhD level.
The Institute for Statistics and Mathematics at WU carries out high-quality research in mathematics and statistics for economics and business. Its research agenda comprises in particular applied probability, financial mathematics and quantitative risk management, theoretical and applied statistics, optimization, and computing. In its research the institute follows a holistic approach based on the integration of conceptual and computational tools. The institute participates in teaching at at all academic levels. It runs in particular the PhD label (specialization) Mathematics in Economics and Business and the MSc in Quantitative Finance (the latter in close cooperation with the Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance).

University of Vienna
The University of Vienna (German: Universität Wien) was founded in 1365, and is the oldest still existing German university and among the largest institutions of higher learning in Europe at approximately 89000 students. The university is associated with 16 Nobel Prize winners and has been the home to many scholars of historical and academic importance. The Financial Mathematics group combines and develops ideas coming from stochastic and functional analysis, and the theory of optimal transportation, to obtain new insights on the fundamental questions of portfolio optimization, pricing and hedging of financial instruments, based on the no-arbitrage principle. The group participates actively in the Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral programs in Mathematics, as well as in the teaching education program in Mathematics.
The research group QUARIMAFI (Quantitative Risk Management and Mathematical Finance) works at the interface of mathematical finance, stochastic analysis, statistics and data science. Concrete topics include universal structures in mathematical finance, e.g., universal stochastic processes with applications in volatility modeling and portfolio theory, approximation theory in dynamic situations, data-driven risk inference and machine learning in finance, especially neural-signature methods. The group participates actively in the Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral programs of Statistics and Data Analytics.

TU Wien
The TU Wien (german: Technische Universität Wien) is Austria's largest research and educational institution in the field of technology and natural sciences. More than 4,000 scientists are researching "technology for people" in five main research areas at eight faculties. The content of the studies offered is derived from the excellent research. More than 26,000 students in 62 degree programmes benefit from this. As a driver of innovation, TU Wien strengthens the business location, facilitates cooperation and contributes to the prosperity of society.
The research unit Financial and Actuarial Mathematics (FAM) @ TU Wien was founded in 1998. The research interests of the group cover active areas such as machine learning in finance and insurance, volatility modelling, interest rate theory, credit risk and insurance mathematics. The research group organises regular series of seminars on mathematical finance and actuarial mathematics to stimulate the research environment and provide practitioners with access to the most recent advances. FAM provides Bachelor and Masters education as well as doctoral degrees. It also provides full program of actuarial education to qualify as approved actuary in Austria.

Wolfgang Pauli Institute (WPI) Vienna
The WPI is a "network of excellence", interdisciplinary in STEM fields like mathematics including statistics & scientific computing & machine learning, informatics, computational sciences, physics, chemistry, material science, biology, medicine, social sciences. Full members bear an excellence grant like ERC, START/Wittgenstein etc. Created and managed by scientists for scientists as a private non profit association, the WPI is a synergetic partner of public universities in Vienna and all Austria. The WPI hosts the International Research Laboratory "Institut CNRS Pauli" and similar cooperations with INRIA and INSERM.
The WPI Thematic Programme "Statistics & Stochastics and Energy & Finance" is one of the longest running thematic programs, with co-organizers from TU, WU and Uni Wien, France and all of Europe. It emphazises the unity of mathematics & statistics and strives to join the relevant groups in Vienna in actitivities with international visitors, from small working groups to (the co-organization of) larger conferences like VCMF.
