The following position will be filled at the Department of Statistics at the Faculty of Technical Science with a preferred starting date of September 1, 2026 (the starting date is negotiable, but no later than March 1, 2027):

Senior Scientist with doctorate/PhD (all genders welcome)

in the working group Stochastic Processes.

Level of employment: 100 % (40 hours/week)
Minimum salary: € 70,200.20 per annum (gross); classification according to collective agreement: B1 lit. b
Limited to: 3 years (or for the duration of the incumbent's absence)

Your responsibilities – what awaits you

  • Independent research including the publication of research articles and active participation in international conferences, in one or more of the following fields: numerical methods for stochastic differential equations, computational stochastics, optimal transport for stochastic processes, analysis of stochastic differential equations
  • Independent delivery of lectures and exercise courses using established and innovative methods (e.g., digital teaching); on average 4 teaching hours per week during the semester
  • Supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s students
  • Participation in public relations activities
  • Participation in university self-management and in quality assurance measures

Your profile

  • PhD/Doctoral degree at a national or international university in mathematics or a related field.
  • This requirement has an extended deadline and must be fulfilled two weeks before the starting date at the latest; hence, the latest possible deadline for meeting this requirement is February 14, 2027.
  • Strong background in one or more of the following fields: numerical methods for stochastic differential equations, computational stochastics, optimal transport for stochastic processes, analysis of stochastic differential equations
  • First publication(s) in renowned relevant journals
  • Experience in the presentation of scientific results
  • Fluency in English
