Assistant Professor (post-doc), non-tenure track (all genders welcome)

Department of Statistics

• Level of employment: 100 % (40 hours/week)
• Minimum salary: € 66,532.20 per annum (gross); classification according to collective agreement: B1 lit. b

The Stochastic Processes group at the Department of Statistics is embedded into the university's area of key research strength "Multiple Perspectives in Optimization (MPOpt)"" and it participates in the thematic doctoral programme and the FWF funded doc.funds doctoral school "Modeling - Analysis - Optimization of discrete, continuous, and stochastic systems". Area of responsibility

• Autonomous scientific work (towards habilitation level) including the publication of research articles in one or more of the following fields: numerical methods for stochastic differential equations, computational stochastics, analysis of stochastic differential equations
• Active participation in the research activities of the research area and at international conferences
• Involvement in raising third party funding and in the work on third party funded projects
• Autonomous teaching at Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD level including service teaching
• (Co-)supervision of Bachelor's students, Master's students, and PhD students
• Participation in university self-management
• Participation in public relations and third-mission activities

Requirements

• PhD/Doctoral degree at a national or international university in mathematics or a related field
• This requirement must be fulfilled two weeks before the starting date at the latest; hence, the last possible deadline for meeting this requirement is September 15, 2024.
• Strong background in one or more of the following fields: numerical methods for stochastic differential equations, computational stochastics, analysis of stochastic differential equations
• First publications in renowned relevant journals
• Experience in the dissemination of scientific results
• Fluency in English

• Didactic skills and first teaching experience
• High communication and dissemination skills
• Programming skills (e.g., Python, Matlab, R, SageMath, Maple, Mathematica, C/C++, ...)

Our Offer

The employment contract is concluded for the position as an Assistant Professor without tenure track and stipulates a starting salary of € 4,752.30 gross per month (14 times a year; previous experience deemed relevant to the job can be recognised).
