Tenure Track Professorship for the field of Stochastics (f/m/x)

A tenure track professorship at Graz University of Technology for the field of Stochastics at the Faculty Mathematics, Physics and Geodesy is to be filled pursuant to § 99 para. 5 of the Universities Act.

The position is initially a University Assistant with Doctorate, 40 hours per week, and the successful candidate is expected to start on October 2024 at the Institute of Statistics.

Upon agreement on a qualification agreement, the candidate will be appointed as assistant professor. As soon as the qualification agreement has been fulfilled, the position will be converted into a tenured position as associate professor.

Duties

  • active research work
  • design, application and realization of research projects
  • installation and management of a research group in the medium term
  • teaching of specific courses for different studies (e.g., mathematics and engineering) at different levels (Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-level)

Wanted qualifications

The candidate must have an outstanding qualification in a current area of stochastics (e.g., probability theory, stochastic processes, stochastic analysis) with possible links to mathematical finance. This qualification is reflected in publication activities according to academic age in relevant international journals. The applicant must have excellent English skills. Fluency in German or the willingness to learn German is required.

A particular asset is teaching experience in stochastics and/or financial mathematics for different audience (mathematics and engineering programs).

Employment Requirements

PhD-level university education in disciplines relevant for the position - field of study: mathematics or comparable field.

  • Experience in teaching on Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral program level
  • Experience in the acquisition and management of third party funded projects
  • Sufficient leadership experience and the ability to lead a research team or unit

  • Competences in Gender, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Appropriate competences in German and English
